Blog: Birmingham and Crufts

After doing a lot of things in London we went to Birmingham and stayed in a hotel that was called “The Holiday Inn”. On the train to Birmingham we had some food. The food was nice, but we also brought other food just in case we didn't like the train food. When we got to Birmingham we could see the hotel from the train station because it was so big and it was only down the street. We had a suite at this hotel and I have only ever seen hotel suites in movies, but it was just like I thought it would be. We had two big TVs and in the suite there was fresh spring water, a whole tray of teas and all sorts of sauce and other things for when we got room service. On the second day in Birmingham we went to the Crufts dog show. We went by taxi and it was fun because I got to go in the pull out seat. When we got there we went in and saw a counter. There was a lady standing at the counter punching the tickets so we went over there. We had the holes punched in our tickets and went through to see all the different dogs.

First we saw the Bedlington Terriers and they were beautiful and “chalked”. I think that chalked means that the owner puts white chalk in the dog's fur to make the dog whiter. They were as white as snow. We went to look at the Blue Lacys next and they were gorgeous and bluish. Then we went to the centre of the room and saw some terriers. There were heaps of different terriers everywhere! To the right, to the left, here and there, and so on and so forth . There were Border Terriers, Jack Russell Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Manchester Terriers, Parson Russell Terriers, and Skye Terriers and they were all fantastic. I loved the Manchester Terriers, they were one of my favourites. They were cute and cuddly and sometimes a bit lick-y. There was a Wolf Hound at one of the exits and it was a life dog. There was a man talking about the dog and I guessed he was the dog's owner.

We went see to a dancing dog. He was massive and his name was Teddy. He was very clever. Because when the owner said “clap” to Teddy he would get up on his back paws and hit a tambourine. Then he would stay up on his back legs and turn around in a circle. Then we went to see the Italian Gray Hounds and they were just irresistible. We saw all the other dogs and went to look at the best dogs there... the Wippets! They were beautiful hiding in their little kennels. One came out and I got to feed it. It ran up to me and I put my finger in the pen and the Wippet stopped and looked at me. Then it walked over and took the biscuit I was holding. It just sat and ate for a while and then finished and got up for more. I gave it one more and another other one of the three Wippets came looking for a biscuit and I gave it one too. Then we went and had some lunch. I got a hot chocolate and a chocolate pastry which were delicious. We left to get back to the hotel and tried to get a taxi and got one straight away. When we got back we went in and collapsed on the bed. I watched some TV when I was eating my dinner and then we called room service to make my bed. Then we went to bed to get a sleep.

GOODBYE dogs of Crufts dog show! I'll see you tomorrow.

On the last day in Birmingham Nana and Pop went shopping and I stayed home. I locked all the doors, put a chair under the door handle and put the chain on the door. It was crazy. When Nana and Pop came back I noticed Nana had got some clothes for me. They were very nice and I put them on to try them and they fit perfectly.

Then at lunch time we went to the Train station in Birmingham and that was big. At 1:00 we went to a restaurant. We had some lunch and it was hard to find something for me to eat because I wouldn't eat meat. Then we noticed that there was a Mark's and Spencers at the train station and went to have a look and see if the was something non-meaty. I found some sushi and that was nicer than me eating meat (to me). Anyway then we noticed on the times board that our train was here and went on to get on the train.

Then we got off the train where Crufts was and went to hire a car. We got a really cool car. Pop and I went to get the car from the car park while Nana sat and waited for us. Poppa and I found the car and drove it down to the train station then Nana got in and we drove off. To Lutterworth. We got to Lutterworth at 5:00pm and we had some dinner with relatives of our that I will introduce in my next entry. And then we went to bed.
