Blog: Landing in London

We were flying over London! I knew I’d be amazed because Nana had told me about all the exciting things there. We went through a cloud and it got really bumpy, it felt like we were on a bike and we were about to flip over and stack it... and the stacking feeling didn’t stop. I felt a thump and a bump and then the cloud cleared. We were down on the runway, we were on the ground. I was SO excited I was going to see my uncle Ben and Poppa and London!!!

All of a sudden screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the brakes were jammed on. We stopped. We started again! We were only parking. Then the pilot said “you can take your seat belts off now”. We did that and the plane stopped totally. Then we got up and got ready to go. The pilot said “move forward” so we did, except we went last and let everyone else go first. The amount of people on the plane! It was like we were in Tokyo! (I haven’t been to Tokyo, but there is a book at school here in Nicaragua that shows photographs of crowded Tokyo streets.) Once all the other passengers had left the plane, it was deserted. We went down the aisle and it was like we were in an abandoned plane because all the people had gone.

We went up the tunnel-ramp and all of a sudden there were lots of people—it was really crowded! Then we went out of the terminal. It was like we were in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory where they were all in that tiny little door way and they all squashed together because there were so many people. We got out and went to look for our bags. We found them and went to look for Ben. We were searching for a while but then in the distance I saw a man that had jeans on, a big jacket and a shaved head. At that moment, I knew it was Ben. I ran. Nana tried to say “don’t run” but I had already gone running. When I finally got to where he was, I tapped on the man’s shoulder (all of a sudden I felt really excited). He grabbed me, but he didn’t turn around; he just reached over and grabbed my hand. Then I felt something run across the top of my fingers. I sensed that he knew the short finger nails were mine and he turned and picked me up and swung me around. He put me down and I felt like I was a cartoon character who just got hit by a baseball bat—really dizzy! Then Nana noticed the grin on my face and she smiled back at me. Then I started to feel tired.

We went out to Ben’s car and got in. Half way to the hotel my nose started to bleed I have no idea why, it just did. We got to the hotel. Ben didn’t stay long but he sat down with us for a bit. Then he left so we could get some sleep and we did. It felt good to be having a sleep and it was good to see my uncle Ben. We slept and slept and slept... for the rest of that day.
