On my birthday we went to the London Eye, an amusement arcade/surprise and the London Aquarium (the arcade was a surprise at first).
First we went to the aquarium; it was very small and only took 20 minutes to go through. The shark feeding wasn’t as good as some that I have seen at AQWA - we went to see the staff feed the sharks and they just threw in some dead fish, they didn’t dive in the water with them or anything! But the rest of the Aquarium was pretty good.
After we saw the sharks we went to the jelly-fish tank. There were lots of different types of jelly-fish including box jelly-fishes. The box jelly-fishes were the coolest because they weren’t round like normal jelly-fish, they were red and they were more square. When we went to the next room we saw glowing fish! We noticed that they were swimming together in a school even though they were all different types of fish.
The best room was next which was where there was a touch pool and we got to touch sting-rays!! We got to touch all different types of sting-rays, there were really big brown ones that were really rough and leopard sting rays that were really soft. There were also fish in the pool but they were too fast to touch. At the end of the touch pool we had to wash our hands with special soap that you don’t have to wash off.
After the touch pool we saw a tank full of something and we had a look, there were over 100 little tiny turtles in the tank. We saw a sign saying baby turtles. They were really cute, and there were only little ones, no big ones. Then we went to the next room and noticed that we were at the end so we went out and head towards the robot convention.
The Robot convention was in the same building as the aquarium. It was all in two big rooms and there were four things you could do. The first thing was we saw was robot-dog soccer. I tried to play it but it was too hard so just Ben played it. Dog soccer is a game where there are two remotecontrol dogs and they are different colours for different teams. You have to get your dog to hit the ball that is in the middle and get it into the other dog’s net. Ben liked it. Then Ben and I saw some remote control cars and we looked at each other and then ran up to the stand and had a go. I got around the track twice first and Ben got mad because I won, what a bad loser.
Then we went into the other big room and saw a little girl going around a huge track on something that looked like a two-wheel lawnmower but she was standing on the engine backwards. I thought that looked really cool so I decided to have a go. So I got on and started up. Ben noticed it too and came over. We went around and around the track and it was really fun. Then we heard a noise like this: “weeeeeeeeeeeeeee”. We saw someone coming from behind and he zoomed right past Ben and I. We saw that the someone was Pop! He was going really fast.

After that we went to the London Eye. It was just down the street from where we were, on a platform built over the river. The London Eye is a massive ferris-wheel; it was the biggest ferris-wheel I have EVER SEEN! We got the tickets and got in our cab, which was really exciting because the London Eye just keeps moving and so you have to jump into it while it is moving! The cabs are pretty big so it isn’t like a regular ferris-wheel. I was ready for being higher than a house! Here we go... and...UP! In about two minutes we were up about 135 feet in the air. I saw a clock called Big Ben (not my uncle Ben). We were above a river which was a bit scary at the beginning but I got over it and started to enjoy myself. We were having a great time looking at all the ant-like people and looking at where we had started from underneath us. All of a sudden we were going back down and we all said “that was fast”. As we were saying this we came to the end. Nana said “get ready for the photo!” and I said “what photo?” and Nana pointed at the automatic camera on a pole that takes a photo every time a cab goes past. The photo of us was taken at the exact time Ben was holding me upside down. We got off and went to see the photo that was taken when I was upside down and we bought it because it was cool.
When we left the London Eye, I thought we were going to dinner. We walked past an amusement arcade and I said “I wish we were going in there” and Ben just turned around and headed inside! That was my surprise and it was a really good one! The first thing Ben and I did was go on the bumper cars. It was really fun. Then we went to the basketball stand and did those basketball hoops. Ben was better at it than me but I still had a good time. We did a KING HAMMER THREE!!! which is where you hit a pad with a toy hammer and if you hit hard you win lots, but if you’re like me - small and only nine that day - you win the smallest amount! I won 16 points and Ben won 50 points. Then we played fish ball which is where you shoot water up a track and try and get a ball up past some fish! That was really cool. We played car and motorbike racing on a simulator and I kept winning, but that’s because Ben kept running into stuff. Then we played battle of the balls which is where you push balls into other balls on a table – like pool without the stick. We also played air hockey which is where you hit the puck into the other players goals on the table. I preferred air hockey. Then we played Star Wars pod racing on a simulator where you race other pods through the Star Wars settings, and BOXING BASH where you hit a punching bag wearing boxing gloves. They were really fun too. It was getting really late now and we still had to have dinner!
For dinner I went to a Italian restaurant with Shannen, Ben, Nana and Poppa. We had the best time. I usually have spinach and ricotta canneloni, but I couldn’t because there wasn’t any, so this time I had a pizza. It was really nice and tasty anyway. I had dessert and the waiter guessed what I wanted: the tiramasu – because that is what I always had at that restaurant and it was great and sweet. The tiramasu came out and it had a candle in it! Everyone sang happy birthday to me it was really cool.
Then we went back to the hotel and Ben and Shannen came too. We had a talk and then they left and we got some sleep. The next entry is very sad.
