Story: The Thunderstorm

One night I woke up in the middle of the night and it was raining, I could hear the rain hitting at the kitchen roof really hard. I tried to go back to sleep but it was too loud. I got up and shut my door but it was no use it was still too loud so I went outside and tried to get over to the grass without getting too wet, to see how far away the storm was. I couldn't just count the seconds between the thunder and the lightening like I usually do, because there was just so much.

I managed to get to the grass without getting wet by walking up the stairs which are under the big eaves that stretch out the back. I made it up to the grass stared into the sky. I noticed a big dark dark cloud circling around and the rain was getting harder and harder. I got back onto the porch and tried to get the back door to open but it was locked! I must have accidentally locked it! I went over to the other door, which leads to the kitchen, it was shut but unlocked. I was so happy about that! I decided not to go back to bed because the rain was still too loud to sleep, so I went through the kitchen, through the dining room, and into the loungeroom and turned on my computer. As it was opening up, I heard the sound of glass smashing onto tiles and I went to see what had happened. It was the kitchen window. The wind was so strong that it had pushed the glass out of the frame. and now there was water was gushing through the hole into the house!

The water was coming in so fast that by the time I got ran back to the dining room it was up to my ankles. By the time I got into the lounge, the water was coming up to my knees. Then I had the best idea, it was to open the front door and let the water flow out into the street. I got to the front door and picked up the keys which were floating around in the water. I unlocked the door, and it wasn't easy to open the door very far because it was getting pushed closed by the water. But I kept it open just enough for the water to flow out, just a couple centimetres, and when enough of the water was out it was easy to open the door wider and the water drained away.

Since I had solved that problem, I decided to go and get my Ipod from my room so I could drown out the sound of the rain with music. But when I got back to my room, I got a huge shock! Because my room is at a lower level than the rest of the house, the rain was gushing in and the water was rising fast. It was up to my chest! I forgot all about my Ipod because I was so surprised.

I thought, "this is terrible!" and I tried to figure out how to solve the problem. I went into my room, which I had to swim in, and swam over to the window were I saw the water glass and my box of tissues that usually sit on my bedside table floating at the side of my bed where my bed was under water! I saw lots of my things floating around the room. It was pretty weird! when I got to the window I opened it and as I watched, all the water gushed out of my room and into the garden and so did some of my toys and even my bed! There was some more water that was lower than the window so I got rid of it witht the big purple buket, and it took me twenty bukets full of water to empty my room. All of my toys that were still in my room were completely wet and had to dry so I put them out in the lounge, under the fan.

I got one of the toys from the line that had dried and started playing with it, it was my captin Jack sparow toy and it was very fun to play. After about two hours I got changed into some dry close and then the rain stopped. I was so happy to see the face of the sun and not just that, I got to see the faces of my to caring loving parents Bridget and Dad.

Oh and because the toys went out into the garden with the water I had to go and pic them up and Dad helped my with my bed.

(boy oh boy do Dad and Bridget sleep through chain saws or something for practice.)

Thanks go to Bridget for helping me with this story!

"It was pretty weird"

I really enjoyed reading this story.
I even believed it had happened,
up until it got wild and the water took over. hehe
I got drawn into the story as your plot unfolded.
Keep up the grand storytelling darling Boy.
I giggled about the chain saws or something -( maybe "fireworks"). *winks*

Hi Mum.

You were right about the fireworks because they actually have to sleep through fireworks for practice!! Thanks for complimenting me on my talent for telling stories and maybe I will get to tell Jo-Jo and Zeke stories when I get back.

Love you,
bye.

rainstorm

I was surprised to see you had a story like that today. We just happen to be having a stormy day today and I decided to catch up on your news!!
But thank goodness we are not getting a huge downfall, just lovely, lovely rain!! The only problem here is that I havent got the blinds for the porch yet and the rain is blowing in and wetting the new daybed I have out there. But thank goodness I havent taken the plastic covers off the cushions yet!!!! So they are nice and dry. I have decided I will leave the plastic covers on until it is really dry again to keep them clean for when you get home.
That was a great story Darling......But please check your spelling!!! Or Aunty Marg will be a school teacher and correct you for sure!!!!

Nana

Hi Nana

Thanks for the comment Nana. Isn't that weird that you had lots of rain on that day! I hope the day bed doesn't get too wet. And I hope auntie Marg doesn't notice my spelling but I know she will!

Love you lots,
bye.
